Trying to learn English can be scaring at first. Here are some tips how to become successful.
- Build your vocabulary
Work on building your vocabulary every day by choosing new words to learn.
- Study little and often
If you’re learning English around a full-time job, it can be tempting to skip practice during the week, and study more on the weekend. However, research shows that for best results it is better to study a tiny bit of English every day, even if only for twenty minutes.
- Read regularly
When you read you repeat your vocabulary and learn new words in context. With new words, you may not even need to use a dictionary because you can guess the meaning from the rest of the text (from the context).
- Don't be afraid of making mistakes.
People often get things wrong. Good language learners notice their mistakes and learn from them.
- Set goals
Setting goals helps to reinforce your learning and you can also celebrate each achievement you make along the way.
